METALLURGIA OTTINETTI - Ligurian low-sided casserole 26 cm
Description
The Ottinetti Ligurian low casserole combines the lightness and excellent thermal conductivity of aluminum with the timeless elegance of two brass handles.
Its low, wide shape promotes rapid and even heat distribution while making stirring and evaporation easier. It is ideal for preparing risottos, sauces, vegetables, slow-cooked meats, and many everyday recipes.
Its refined vintage style also makes it suitable for serving directly at the table, for a service that is both warm and elegant.
Compatible with gas, electric, and ceramic glass cooktops. Not compatible with induction cooktops.
Care instructions: hand washing with a soft sponge is recommended. Dry immediately after washing. Over time, the aluminum may develop a natural patina that does not affect its cooking properties.
Italo Ottinetti and a passion for aluminum
In 1920, Italo Ottinetti, born in 1898 and a former World War I soldier, founded with several associates, in Baveno — a charming village on the shores of Lake Maggiore, now in the province of Verbania — the metalworking company that still bears his name.
In the small factory, aluminum was processed through a complete production cycle: the ingot was melted to produce a sheet, which was then rolled to form a disk. The disk was subsequently stamped or spun to create the finished product.
This was essentially artisanal production of high-quality items, which Italo Ottinetti personally sold by traveling throughout Italy, as far as Sicily. At that time, the range included cutlery, cookware, and accessories for families, as shown in the 1925 catalog, the year in which Italo Ottinetti became the company's sole owner.
The business prospered, and the factory expanded to employ more than 50 people before World War II. This workforce subsequently declined as much of the production process was mechanized during the years of the economic boom.
